Spiritstead Spirits Tier List

This Spiritstead spirits tier list ranks helpers by village utility, not combat stats — because there is no PvP. A top-tier spirit saves hours of manual clicking, stabilizes food or wood before a population spike, or accelerates crystal shard income toward the Grand Spirit Sanctuary. A low-tier spirit might still be charming, but you can postpone the hunt until your production chains and happiness buildings breathe.

Rankings reflect Adventure Mode pacing in the Steam demo and developer comments through early 2026. Full-release balance may shift when Bluji and late biomes arrive on August 6, 2026. Revisit after launch patches.

Tier summary

TierSpiritsWhy they matter
SPeppokFirst reliable food automation; unlock is easy during normal cooking
AScruffern, BlumpyStrong mid-game QoL — exploration cleanup and decoration loops
BMizzrickHigh ceiling but heavy unlock conditions; weather and item gates
CBluji (unreleased)Journal placeholder in demos; expect late sanctuary payoff
UnrankedRemaining journal spiritsInteraction-based finds (flight tricks, fishing, special bushes) — rank after you unlock them

Use the unlock guide for steps and spirit buildings for structure placement after you commit to a hunt.

S tier — Peppok

Peppok earns S tier because the unlock and payoff align with hour one. Cooking chicken at a bonfire is something you already do to feed villagers; the spirit simply removes repetitive meal prep as population grows. Adventure saves hit food stress right when players mass-build houses — Peppok prevents that cliff.

Build priority: Peppok’s spirit building immediately after unlock, placed between coops, farms, and food warehouses. Delay optional decorations before Peppok unless happiness is actively crashing.

Downside: Minimal. Even Creative sandboxes benefit from Peppok before testing exotic layouts.

A tier — Scruffern and Blumpy

Scruffern

Scruffern rewards map literacy. The unlock — finding bushes that do not belong — forces exploration that Adventure Mode already encourages toward the Snow biome. Once hired, Scruffern supports outdoor automation tied to frontier expansion and log cutting lines.

Why A, not S: New players can delay Scruffern until Peppok and basic wood/food stabilize. Rush Scruffern if quests push territorial expansion before your economy is ready.

Creative note: Ideal for demo players stuck at Adventure level four who still want journal progress.

Blumpy

Blumpy appears after flower experiments, linking spirits to the decorations meta. Happiness systems in demos reward placing decorations and happiness structures even when proximity bonuses are still evolving — Blumpy reduces manual floral busywork.

Why A, not S: Unlock RNG and experimentation time beat Peppok’s straightforward chicken trigger. Players ignoring aesthetics can postpone Blumpy longer than Scruffern.

Synergy: Pair with cafés and markets from the happiness buildings guide once disposable income exists.

B tier — Mizzrick

Mizzrick demands specific item placement during correct weather and time of day — the steepest unlock in public discussions. Utility can match A-tier spirits because weather-linked automation and shard bursts help late Adventure, but only if you already solved food, wood, and basic happiness.

When to prioritize: Mid-to-late Adventure when crystal nodes multiply and manual micromanagement hurts more than one evening of weather watching.

When to skip temporarily: First two hours, or any save where villagers lack bonfires and warehouses.

Creative note: Best spirit to test in Creative Mode sessions dedicated to journal completion — see Creative Mode tips.

C tier — Bluji (demo unavailable)

Bluji sits in C tier for now only because demos block the unlock — not because the spirit is weak. Developer posts confirm eight of nine spirits work in public builds; Bluji likely anchors sanctuary finale or unreleased biome content. Expect tier jump to S or A once launch reveals abilities.

Do not waste hours forcing Bluji in demos. Track release news instead.

Unranked journal spirits

Turbo Dog Games press kits mention spirits tied to destroying special bushes, making villagers or sheep fly, and similar playful interactions without always publishing names. We refuse to invent characters — instead, rank these finds personally after unlock:

  • If the spirit automates a bottleneck (food, wood, shards), treat it as A tier.
  • If it is primarily cosmetic or novelty, B or C unless you chase 100% journal completion.

Update personal notes on the spirit checklist and contribute corrections after launch if official names drop.

Adventure vs Creative prioritization

ModePriority order
AdventurePeppok → Scruffern → Blumpy → Mizzrick → others → Bluji
Creative (journal hunt)Blumpy and Mizzrick first if Adventure caps block them → Peppok for automation tests → Scruffern sweep
Creative (pure build)Peppok only until you need shard toys for screenshots

Adventure caps near level four in demo Survival push some spirits into Creative — not a tier downgrade, just a mode requirement noted in the spirits hub.

Spirit buildings change tiers

A spirit’s rank assumes you build its spirit building and assign crystal nodes. Unassigned Peppok is still nice; assigned Peppok funding sanctuary tiers is run-defining. Always budget wood and shards for structures right after unlock.

Methodology and disclaimers

Rankings weigh:

  1. Unlock difficulty vs early-game need.
  2. Automation scope (food > niche decoration > conditional weather).
  3. Shard contribution in late Adventure.
  4. Demo availability (Bluji excluded).

We ignore subjective cuteness — Flump-adjacent charm does not move tiers. Multiplayer is irrelevant; Spiritstead has no co-op per store listings.

This list complements — not replaces — discovery joy. Hunt lower-tier spirits early if a hint excites you; Spiritstead is cozy, not sweaty. For infrastructure synergy, cross-read Buildings hub and Adventure walkthrough so tier chasing never bankrupts your wood reserve.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Who is the best spirit in Spiritstead?

Peppok tops utility for most Adventure saves because food automation arrives early and the chicken unlock fits normal gameplay. Late-game opinions may shift when Bluji launches.

Is Mizzrick worth the unlock effort?

Yes once basic economy and happiness are stable. Prioritize Peppok and Scruffern first unless you enjoy weather puzzles for their own sake.

Why is Bluji ranked low?

Bluji cannot be unlocked in demos, so there is no gameplay payoff yet. The rank is provisional until the full release reveals abilities.

Does tier list order matter in Creative Mode?

Less than Adventure. Creative players hunting journal completion should prioritize spirits gated by Adventure level caps, then build Peppok for convenience.

Do spirit tiers change after building upgrades?

Yes. Assigning spirits to crystal nodes and upgrading structures raises shard value, effectively promoting helpers that seemed mid-tier before investment.
